THROWING ON THE POTTER'S WHEEL- December
Weekend of the 7th & 8th of December from 10am to 5pm with teacher Catalina Vancolen
Description du service
A weekend of focus, fun, clay mess, centering, trial and error, and total immersion! Throwing (using the potter's wheel) is a technique that requires time and practice to master. This introductory course will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and beginner practice to start your throwing journey. 🔅 PROGRAM 🔅 In the first half of the course, we will focus on wedging clay to remove air bubbles, centering it on the wheel, and learning how to form the basic cylinder shape, which is the foundation of all pottery forms. In the second half, you will learn how to create bowl shapes and trim your pieces to form the 'foot' or base, with clay ribbons flying as you refine your work. 🔅 PRICE 🔅 🔸 The price includes all the clay and the firings for your first thrown and trimmed pieces made during the weekend. 🔸 The time required for glazing your work is not included in the weekend fee (see the 'Glazing' section below). 🔅 SMALL GROUP 🔅 The introductory course accommodates a maximum of 6 participants, ensuring a hands-on experience with a total of 12 hands at work. 🔅 AFTER THE COURSE 🔅 Once the course is complete, you have the opportunity to join our studio community and continue practicing throwing at your own pace during our weekly member sessions with a Membership Pass (for more details, see the 'Studio Membership' section on our website). Please note that you cannot take your pieces home at the end of the weekend! The ceramic process has several steps, so patience is key. 😉 🔅 GLAZING 🔅 Approximately 10 days after the weekend, your work will have been fired at 950°C and ready for glazing. Here are your options: 🔸 If you haven't glazed in our studio, sign up for a Glazing Intro Class (more info in our "Intro Courses" menu). 🔸 If you've already been introduced to glazing, book a table during a Member Session (with or without a Membership Pass). 🔸 We can glaze your work for you with a glossy transparent glaze for €5 per piece. ⚠️ TERMS AND CONDITIONS ⚠️ 🔸 Please ensure you can attend both days of the course, as sessions are typically full and we cannot move participants between sessions. 🔸 If you can't complete your work during the course hours, you may continue working on your pieces during member opening hours by booking a table. This is not included in the course fee. 🔸 Please review our cancellation policy carefully below.
